Municipality of The Hague: applying for a planning permit
Do you want to know whether you need an omgevingsvergunning (planning permit)? You can do an online vergunningcheck (permit check) at the Omgevingsloket online (planning permit online service desk) in Dutch.
- Go to Omgevingsloket (the online environment service counter, in Dutch).
- Run a permit check to see if you need a permit or if you must submit a notification.
- If you need a permit, you can apply for it at once on Omgevingsloket. Log in with DigiD (for individuals) or eHerkenning (for businesses).
- If you have to submit a notification, you can do so at once on Omgevingsloket. Log in with DigiD (for individuals) or eHerkenning (for businesses).

Has your application been denied or dismissed? In some cases you can apply for a refund.
After you have applied for the environment and planning permit, you will receive a letter stating how long the procedure will take.
- The municipality usually will take a decision on your application within 8 weeks. It has the right to extend this period 1 time by a maximum of 6 weeks.
- Do you have a more complex building plan? Then the municipality will have 12 weeks or 26 weeks to take a decision. You will receive notification about this. The municipality also has the right to extend this period 1 time by a maximum of 6 weeks.
If your application has been rejected, you can submit an objection.
Has your application been approved? Then others have the right to object to the municipality’s decision.

Good to know
You are not allowed to start the works before you have obtained the permit. If you start before that, you may have to undo the works at your own expense.
