Municipality of Veendam: applying for a personalised disabled parking space

be able to get a handicapped parking space. This is a parking space with a sign showing your license plate number. You must have a disabled driver's parking permit.

Other residents may object to the handicapped parking space.

Do you have a new car? And do you already have a disabled parking space? If so, don't forget to tell us.

There are conditions. These are, for example:

  • You have a disabled driver or passenger parking permit.
  • You do not have a parking space on your own land or at your apartment.
  • The municipality checks that it will not be a nuisance to traffic.
  • The parking space is valid for as long as your disabled parking permit.

You apply for the disabled parking space at the municipality. This can be done online via the website of the municipality of Veendam: Apply for a disabled parking space (gehandicaptenparkeerplaats)

  • Log in with DigiD.
  • Complete the digital form.
  • When applying, provide a clear explanation or, for example, a drawing of the spot where you want the disabled parking space.
  • Enclose the following:
    - a copy of your disabled parking permit;
    - A copy of your vehicle registration certificate.

For the application and construction, you pay €50.

We will respond to your request within 8 weeks. After that, it will take some time before we can construct the parking lot.

Do you disagree with our decision? You can file an objection. You can do this directly with us. Do this within 6 weeks after you receive the decision. If you then disagree with the decision on your objection, you can appeal. You can do this with the court.

Note! Other interested parties can also object to the disabled parking space.
