Municipality of Westland: applying for a personal budget (pgb)
With a personal budget (PGB), you purchase assistance yourself. For your Wmo assistance, you choose who your care provider or caregiver will be. You arrange almost everything yourself. You make agreements with your care provider about the care, and you handle the administration yourself. You can find all the information about this on the website of the Dutch government (Rijksoverheid).
To be eligible for a PGB, you must meet a number of requirements:
- You must draw up a PGB plan, in which you must specify what help you need.
- The care providers that you select must meet quality requirements.
- You must conclude an agreement with the care providers yourself.
- You must be able to manage your PGB yourself. For example, you must conclude a contract with the care providers yourself. You must also direct them and keep records. You can also ask a PGB representative to do this for you.
Payment
You do not receive the money from your PGB yourself. The municipality pays your personal budget to the Sociale Verzekeringsbank – SVB (social insurance bank). You send your care providers’ invoices to the SVB. The SVB will then pay them. You must keep the invoices for your records.
Do you want to arrange the care or assistance yourself? We decide if that is possible in your case. For example, you must be proficient in managing a PGB. This means that you know, for instance, what care you need and that you make good agreements with a care provider. You also need to show a budget plan. Learn more about PGB skills on Rijksoverheid.nl. Or take the PGB-test. This way, you can see if a PGB is suitable for you.
-
Wmo-report to the municipality
You first make a Wmo report.
-
Kitchen table conversation
We invite you to a kitchen table conversation (keukentafelgesprek).
-
Support plan
You will receive a support plan. If you receive assistance from the Wmo, this plan will outline the proposal for personalized assistance. Because you have opted for a PGB, you will also receive a budget plan.
-
Signing
Send the 2 documents completed and signed to us.
-
PGB conversation
A PGB conversation will follow. In this conversation, we will assess whether you can manage a personal budget (PGB) yourself. Otherwise, it may be that care in natura is better suited to you.
-
Decision
Within 2 weeks after signing, you will receive a decision from us.
You will be informed within 8 weeks whether you will receive a PGB. You will receive a notification from the municipality regarding this. If your plan is approved, you will receive a decision. This decision will state that you will receive a PGB. From now on, you will manage everything online via the PGB portal (www.mijnpgb.nl). This includes creating a care agreement (agreements about the care) yourself and filling in your own declarations (overview of costs).
