Municipality of Vlissingen: applying for a personal budget (pgb)

If you choose a Personal Budget (pgb), you purchase care yourself. You then become the budget holder.
This means that you are fully responsible for directing the care provider and for the financial and administrative handling of the care.

Which skills should a budget holder have?

The budget holder should be proficient in managing budgets. This is also called being 'budget skilled.'
 But a budget holder should not only be able to manage the budget well, it is more than that. You enter into an employment contract with a care provider. For example, you need to fill in digital forms, draw up Care Agreement(s), and keep records. Your skills will be discussed with you in a personal meeting with a customer support officer.

More information

Read more about the personal budget (pgb) on the website of the Sociale Verzekeringsbank. This will give you a good idea of whether managing a pgb independently suits you.

Your Personal Budget (pgb) is only intended to purchase care.

What may you not use the pgb for?

  • Travel costs.
    Any travel costs of your care provider may not be paid from the pgb;
  • Holiday allowance.
    You may not use the pgb to pay a holiday allowance to your care provider;
  • Mediation.
