Municipality of Amsterdam: applying for a parking permit
To apply for a parking permit, you must meet the following conditions:
- You are registered at the address for which you are applying for the permit.
- The vehicle is registered in your name or you are the only user of the lease, hire or company car for which you are applying.
- The vehicle may also have a non-Dutch registration number.
- Your vehicle must meet the environmental requirements:
- For diesel cars: emission standard 4 or higher.
- For cars running on other fuels: emission standard must be 1 or higher.
- Parking permits are never available for new-build projects. In some areas, instead of a parking permit, you can apply for a waiver for the blue zone (in Dutch).
- You can apply for a maximum of 2 parking permits depending on your address.
Which documents you need depends on your situation.
Your own vehicle
No documents needed if the vehicle is registered in your name.
A lease car or a rental car
Do you lease or rent the car directly from a leasing or rental company? Then you have to scan and upload:
- Copy of the lease contract or agreement, maximum of 1 year old, or a copy of the declaration of the lease, maximum of 1 month old.
If you have a rental car or lease car that is not in your name, please scan and upload:
- A salary slip in your name, maximum of 2 months old.
- A declaration from your employer that states you are an employee of the company, and that you are the only employee with permission to drive the car. Maximum of 1 month old.
- Lease or rental agreement with the name of your employer, maximum 1 year old, or lease declaration with the name of your employer, maximum 1 month old
Do you meet the conditions? Then you can apply for a parking permit.
Address search
Please use the address search to check which permit area it is in, and to discover more about the waiting list and costs for a resident parking permit in your area.
You will receive our decision by email within 1 working day after we receive your application.
It is not possible to obtain a parking permit for some areas. This may be the case, for example, in areas in which there is a (future) new construction project or which are being developed. In some cases, however, you can apply for a waiver for the blue zone (in Dutch).
