Municipality of Vlissingen: applying for a new passport or renewing your old one

At the municipality, you need to make an appointment to apply for a passport. You always need to be there in person!
Children also need to be present in person when applying for and picking up the passport.

  • A passport for adults is valid for 10 years;
  • For young people under 18, it is 5 years.

Note: you can only apply for a new Dutch passport or renew your old one if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

  • You must always be present in person;
  • All travel documents you have (including foreign ones), even if they are expired;
  • A color passport photo, no older than 6 months. There are strict requirements for this, so make sure to read them carefully on the government website;
  • Written consent from the guardian, if you are under guardianship;
  • In case your previous passport is lost: you need to file a declaration of loss with your local municipality;
  • Payment for the passport can be made in cash or by card during the application.

Under 18 years old

People with parental authority can decide for a child, usually the parents or guardians.
The child must come to the appointment and needs written consent from the parental authority. You give consent separately.

The applicant makes an appointment at the city hall in Vlissingen and must always be present in person.

Urgent application

  • Do you need your passport quickly? Then you can submit an urgent application. If you apply for the passport before 2 PM, you can usually pick it up the next working day;
  • Are you leaving today? Then contact the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee for an emergency document. For more information, see the Ministry of Defence website.

You pay a fee for this service. For more information, see Paspoort | Gemeente Vlissingen.
