Municipality of Montferland: applying for a new passport or renewing your old one
You can apply for a passport at the municipality. You can collect your passport after 5 working days.
Applying while abroad
Dutch nationals resident abroad, can apply directly to a large number of Dutch representations, such a consulates and embassies. Or at one of the border municipalities in the Netherlands, of which Montferland is one. Dutch nationals resident abroad need various documents for their application. - An identity photo that meets passport photo standards;
- All the passports and identity cards in your possession, even if they have expired;
- If you are applying for a second passport, bring proof that you need a second passport with you;
- If your passport has got lost or been stolen abroad, then bring the foreign police report with you;
- Debit card or cash. You pay immediately upon application.
Children up to 18 years of age
- Written authorisation from both parents of from the parent who has parental authority over the child. This form can be submitted via the 'Submitting the travel document consent form' page;
- (Copy of) both parents' proof of identity or that of the parent who has parental authority over the child;
- Children must apply for and collect passports in person;
- At least one parent or guardian must accompany a child younger that 12 years of age applying for a passport;
- An identity photo that meets passport photo standards;
- All your child's passports and identity cards in your possession, even if they have expired;
- Debit card or cash. You pay immediately upon application.
You can apply for a passport in person at the municipality in which you live. Book an appointment to apply for a passport.

You can collect your passport after 5 working days. If you make an emergency application in the morning, you can collect your passport on the next working day.
If you no longer have your old passport and you do not have any other form of identity, the municipality will do research to confirm your identity. This may mean that it will take longer for you to receive your passport.
Emergency application
If you need a passport quickly, you can make an emergency application. If you make an emergency application in the morning, you can collect your passport on the next working day. You have to pay extra for an emergency application.
