Municipality of Hoorn: applying for a new passport or renewing your old one

To apply for a passport, make an appointment at the town hall. Renewing a passport is not possible.   

Please note: you can only apply for a new Dutch passport or renew your old one if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

To apply for a passport, the following conditions apply:

  • You have the Dutch nationality.
  • You are registered in the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP) of the municipality of Hoorn.

For persons under the age of 18, written permission from all authorities is always required.

Please bring the following with you to the meeting at City Hall:

  • All travel documents (passport/identity card) that you have, even if they are no longer valid.
  • A matching color passport photo. The passport photo is no more than six months old at the time of application. More information about the requirements for a passport photo can be found on the website of the Dutch government.
  • A debit card (or cash)
  • Persons up to the age of 18: written permission from the authorities and a valid proof of identity (or copy thereof) from the authorities.

The person for whom the passport is requested must be present. The person for whom the passport is requested must also be present when collecting or having it delivered.

You must apply for a passport in person at the municipality where you live. Make an appointment to apply for a passport

  • Passport from 18 years: € 83,87
  • Passport up to 18 years: € 63,42
  • Passport from the age of 18, with urgent application: € 140.96
  • Passport up to 18 years, urgent application: € 120,51
  • Additional costs for request at home: € 30

You pay the costs for your passport when applying at the town hall.

The passport is ready 5 working days after your application. You can then pick it up from 10:00 am. With an urgent application, the passport is ready after a maximum of 2 working days.
