Province of Fryslân: applying for a permit for construction near a provincial road
Omschrijving
If you want to carry out work or organise an event on, over, under or close to a road, you must first check who owns the road. If the road is owned by the provincial authorities, you must apply for an environmental permit from that authority.
For example, work may include building a viaduct, installing underground cables, archaeological excavations, placing a memorial, etc.
For example, events include a cycling race, a marathon, a carnival parade, a flower parade, etc.
The conditions include:
- The roadway is managed by the province.
- Your construction work or activity does not present a risk to traffic.
- Your construction work or activity does not negatively affect the roadway or the verge.
This is how you apply for a permit:
- Go to the online Omgevingsloket (in Dutch). This is the service counter for environmental and planning permits.
- Do the permit check.
- You will be told whether you need to apply for an environmental permit. You can do this right away.
Costs may be associated with processing an application for an environmental permit. These fees are set annually by the provincial authorities.
The provincial authorities will make a decision on your permit within 8 weeks. If the provincial authorities deem it necessary, they can extend this period by a maximum of 6 weeks.
Do you disagree with the decision of the provincial authorities on a permit? You can object within 6 weeks of the decision. You do not agree with the outcome thereof? In that case, you can appeal through the courts. And appeal once more after that, if necessary.
