Municipality of Hoogeveen: applying for Dutch citizenship by naturalisation

Please note: you can only apply for Dutch citizenship by naturalisation if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

During your intake interview we will check whether or not you meet the conditions for naturalisation. If you do meet these conditions, a second appointment will be made to file a request to option or naturalisation.

  • A valid (foreign) proof of identity. 
  • An authenticated or international birth certificate.
  • Dutch qualifications.
  • Civic integration certificates.

After your request you will get a letter from the IND within 1 year. If your request is a challenging one this can take up to 2 years. You will be notified within 13 weeks if you request an option. This can also take up to 26 weeks if your request is a challenging one.
