Municipality of Aalsmeer: applying for Dutch citizenship by naturalisation

Do you want to apply for the Netherlands (Dutch) nationality? One of the ways is to apply for naturalisatie (naturalisation).

You can only apply in Aalsmeer if you are registered in Amstelveen/Aalsmeer.

  • Valid passport.
  • Valid verblijfsvergunning (residence permit) from the Netherlands.
  • For a naturalisation request from an adult: your integration diploma, comparable diploma or exemption.
  • Are you also applying for your partner and/or children? Then you will also need copies of these documents for them.

If you meet the conditions, you can make an appointment for your naturalisation application.

Applications for Dutch nationality must be done in person at the town hall. You need to make an appointment in advance for this.

You can also call the municipality: +31 297 38 75 75.

You pay a fee for this service. For more information, please visit the municipality of Aalsmeer website.

  • After submitting the application form, you will receive an email within 28 working days with an invitation for an appointment at the town hall. The email will state which documents you need to bring to the appointment.
  • The municipality assesses whether you meet all conditions for naturalisation and provides the Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst – IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Service) with advice. The municipality sends your file to the IND.
  • The IND checks whether you meet all conditions and makes a decision. The IND must make a decision within 12 months. If you have any questions about the application in the meantime, you can contact the IND.
  • You officially become a Dutch citizen only after the naturalisation ceremony.
  • From the next working day after the ceremony, you can make an appointment to apply for a Dutch passport and/or a Dutch identity card.
