Applying online

Do you live in the Netherlands and have a DigiD? If so, you can apply for your birth certificate online. You can also use your DigiD to apply for your birth certificate when you are abroad.

Applying from abroad

No DigiD? You can also authorise someone to apply for your birth certificate for you at the service desk.

Alternatively, you can apply for your birth certificate by post:

• Send a letter to Gemeente Zeist, afdeling Burgerzaken, Postbus 513, 3700 AM, Zeist.
• In the letter, state your year of birth, name, address and what you need the certificate for.
• Sign the letter. Attach a copy of your valid identity document.

A birth certificate costs: € 17,10.

Applying in the Netherlands

You will receive the birth certificate by post after no more than 5 work days.

Applying from abroad

The municipality will send the birth certificate to your address outside the Netherlands within 2 weeks. The time taken by the postal service varies from country to country.

You can also choose to have the birth certificate sent to a Dutch address. Your acquaintance or family member can then forward it to you.
