Municipality of Steenwijkerland: applying for a copy of a birth certificate

The municipality records important events, such as a birth, in the registry of births. Do you need a copy (full statement of the facts) or an extract (limited content) for, for example, a pension insurance or an estate? Then you can request this from the municipality where the event took place.

  • Valid proof of identity (a passport, driver's license, identity card or alien's document).
  • If you request the copy or extract for someone else, you must be of age and you need a written authorization. You must also bring a copy of his or her proof of identity.
  • Money: you must pay the statement or extract by card or cash.
