Were you born in the Netherlands? Do you live in the Netherlands and have a DigiD? If so, you can apply for your birth certificate online. You can also use your DigiD to apply for your birth certificate from outside the Netherlands.

Applying at the service desk

You can apply for your birth certificate at the service desk of your municipality Kampen. Take a valid identity document with you. You can only apply for your birthcertificate in the municipality in wich you were born!

Applying from outside the Netherlands

No DigiD? You can also authorise someone to apply for the birth certificate for you at the service desk.

Alternatively, you can apply for your birth certificate by post:

• Send a letter to Gemeente Kampen, afdeling Burgerzaken, Postbus 5009, 8260 GA Kampen.
• In the letter, state your year of birth, name, address and what you need the certificate for.
• Sign the letter. Attach a copy of your valid identity document.

A birth certificate costs: € 17,10.

Applying in the Netherlands

You will receive the birth certificate by post after no more than 5 working days.

Applying from outside the Netherlands

The municipality will send the birth certificate to your address outside the Netherlands within 2 weeks. The time taken by the postal service varies from country to country.
