Were you born in the Netherlands? Do you live in the Netherlands and have a DigiD? If so, you can apply for your birth certificate online. You can also use your DigiD to apply for your birth certificate from outside the Netherlands.

Applying at the service desk

You can apply for your birth certificate at the service desk of your municipality Bergen (L). Take a valid identity document with you and make an appointment via make an appointment.

Applying from outside the Netherlands

No DigiD? You can also authorise someone to apply for the birth certificate for you at the service desk. Alternatively, you can apply for your birth certificate by post. For more information, contact the municipality.

Applying in the Netherlands

If you request the certificate in person at the municipality, you will receive it immediately. This also applies if you authorize someone to do so.

If you request the certificate online, the municipality will send it to you by post.

Applying from outside the Netherlands

The municipality will send the birth certificate to your address outside the Netherlands within 1 week. The time taken by the postal service varies from country to country.
