Municipality of Arnhem: applying for a copy of a birth certificate

The municipality records birth, marriage, divorce and death in a deed. You can request a copy or international extract of a deed.

The event needs to have taken place in Arnhem.

Applying online

You can make an online request for your birth certificate. 

Applying by mail

You can also request a copy of a civil record in writing. Send a letter to:

Mention n your letter:

  • Which deed you want to receive.
  • Whom you wish to request a copy of the deed from (include first name, last name and date of birth).
  • the date on which the event occurred in Arnhem.
  • The reason for your request.
  • Your first and last name and your address.

Sign the letter and enclose a copy of your identification. The transcript will be mailed to you within 2 weeks.

Applying at the service desk

You can apply for your birth certificate at the service desk of your municipality. Make an appointment.

Authorize someone

To request a transcript, you can authorize someone else. This person can request the transcript on your behalf.

A birth certificate costs: € 17,10.

Online: you will receive the statement by post within 3 working days.
Post: you will receive the statement by post within 2 weeks.
