Municipality of Maastricht: applying to collect a driving licence

You must apply for your driving licence in person at the municipality where you live and are registered. Please make an appointment to do so.

You may also be able to apply online for your driver's licence in Maastricht, depending on your circumstances. If you apply online, you can collect your new driving licence from the Gemeente Loket (Municipal Service Desk) after just 2 working days. 2023 rates

Driving licence: €48.15

Additional charges for spoedaanvraag (urgent request): €34.10

Additional charges in the event of loss or theft: €28.70

Eigen verklaring (self-declaration) for medical examination: €41.50

Online licence extension or expansion with additional category (through RDW website): €48.15

You can collect your driving licence in person from the municipality within a week after applying. If you have applied for your driving licence online via the RDW website, you can do so after just 2 working days.

Urgent request

If you need your driving licence quickly, you can make a spoedaanvraag (urgent request). You will be able to collect it the next working day if you apply for the driving licence before 14.00. Please note that an additional charge applies for urgent requests.

Validity of your driving licence

• Under 65 years of age: valid for 10 years.
• Between 65 and 70 years of age: valid until your 75th birthday.
• Between 70 and 75 years of age: valid for 5 years.
• Over 75 years of age: valid for a maximum of 5 years.
