Municipality of Hilversum: applying to collect a driving licence

To apply for, exchange and pick up your driver's license, make an appointment. You apply for a driving license in the municipality in which you live.

Take

  • 1 passport photo. Review the requirements for a passport photo
  • Valid ID if you are applying for a driver's license for the first time, if you want to exchange a foreign driver's license or if your driver's license is missing
  • Your old driving license if you renew your driving license or with an expired driving license
  • Money (pin or cash)

To exchange a foreign driving licence, you should also bring the following:

  • Your valid foreign driver's license
  • Valid ID and residence permit (not necessary if you come from a country of the EC, EEA or Switzerland)
  • Declaration of eligibility (if you have one)
  • Letter tax 30% ruling (if you have this)

  • You apply for a driving license in person at the counter of the Municipal Office
  • You make an appointment for this
  • After 5 working days you can pick up your driver's license in person

Urgent request

  • Apply for the driving license before 13.00 p.m. and use the urgent application
  • You can pick up your driver's license after 2 working days from 11.00 a.m
  • You have to pay more for an urgent request

Extend driver's license

  • You must replace your driver's license within 3 years if you get an extra category of driver's license
  • A health certificate is required for some categories

Pick up

  • After 5 working days you can pick up your driver's license in person
  • To collect your driver's license, you make a appointment. Please bring your appointment confirmation with you when you pick up. On paper or your phone
  • You must pick up your new driver's license at the municipality within 3 months
  • After 3 months we have to throw away your driving license. You will not get your money back
