Municipality of Dronten: applying to collect a driving licence

You must take both a theory and practical exam at the Central Bureau for Driving Skills (CBR). Afterward, you can apply for your driver's license at the municipality.

Your driver's license. Don't have a valid driver's license (yet)? Then bring a valid ID. Do you have a residence permit? Bring it with you;

A passport photo no older than 6 months. The passport photo must meet the passport photo requirements. School photos do not meet the requirements;

Are you under 18? Bring (the application for) the companion pass;

A debit card or cash. The driver's license must be paid for upon application.

In some situations, you must first undergo a medical examination before applying for or renewing a driver's license. You will need a health declaration for this. You can obtain this through the CBR (Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing).

Are you under 18?

You can obtain a driver's license from the age of 17. Until you turn 18, you must drive under the supervision of a coach who sits next to you. To do this, you must first apply for a supervisor pass. Anyone who meets the requirements can become a coach. This could be a family member, friend, or acquaintance, for example. You can choose a minimum of one and a maximum of five coaches.

You can apply yourself. The supervisor does not need to accompany you. However, you must bring proof of application or the supervisor pass.

After around a week, you can collect your driving licence from the municipality in person.

Do you need it sooner than that?

If you need your driving licence urgently, you can make an urgent request. You have to pay an extra fee for an urgent request.

How long are driving licences valid?

• Under 65 years of age: valid for 10 years.
• Between 65 and 70 years of age: valid until your 75th birthday.
• Between 70 and 75 years of age: valid for 5 years.
• Over 75 years of age: valid for a maximum of 5 years.
