Municipality of Amsterdam: applying to collect a driving licence

  • A passport photo that complies with the official standards. We recommend using a professional photographer.
  • Your current Dutch driving licence.
  • If you are not a national of an EU member state, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland or Switzerland: a valid residence permit.
  • Check the RDW website to see if you need a Certificate of Fitness

To apply for a driving licence, you must visit a City Office in person, no appointment needed. In Weesp, you do make an appointment.

In some cases you can also apply for your driving licence online. You will then be able to collect the new driving licence from the service desk after just 2 working days.
