Municipality of Aalsmeer: applying to collect a driving licence
Have you passed your driving test? You apply for your driving licence in person at the municipality.

You can only apply for a driving licence if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with the municipality.
Online applications
In some cases you can also apply for your driving licence online. You will then be able to collect the new driving licence from the service desk after just 2 working days. You submit the application via the RDW website. Visit the RDW website to find out how to apply for a driving licence online.
Exchange a foreign driving licence
If you have a valid foreign driving licence and you live in the Netherlands, you can exchange your driving licence in some situations. Read more about exchanging a foreign driving licence (RDW). Then you can make an appointment at the municipality to do so.
- If you are applying for your first driving licence: a valid passport or identity card.
- Your current driving licence. If it is no longer valid, you must also bring a valid passport or identity card.
- A colour passport photo that meets the passport photo requirements for the Netherlands.
- For a driving licence for people under the age of 18 years: a supervisor’s pass (website in Dutch)
- A health declaration (if applicable). The CBR (Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing) website (in Dutch) states which situations require you to complete a health declaration.

After applying for your driving licence, you can collect it from the town hall after 5 working days without an appointment.
Do you need it sooner than that?
- If you need your driving licence urgently, you can make an urgent request.
- If you apply for the driving licence before 14:00, then you can pick it up after 2 working days at the latest. You have to pay an extra fee for an urgent request.
