Municipality of Heerlen: applying for an affordable housing permit

Please note: you can apply for an affordable housing permit only if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

n Heerlen, there are two types of housing permits: 1.     Housing permit for areas where the Parkstad Act applies 2.     Standard housing permit for other areas

To be eligible for an affordable housing permit, you must meet the following conditions:

-      you are 18 years of age or older -      the base rent is no more than €764.14 Do you work as a teacher, nurse, or police officer in Heerlen? If so, you may be eligible for priority status. You do *not* need a permit in the other areas if: you are renting from a housing association you are a student you are moving into a mobile home or onto a mobile home pitch you are moving into a home being rented out temporarily under the Vacancy Act (*Leegstandswet*) you are moving into a service dwelling (tied housing)

You pay a fee for this service. For more information, contact the municipality.

If the application is complete, you will find out within 8 weeks whether you will be granted an affordable housing permit. What happens if the application is incomplete? The municipality will contact you.
