Municipality of Delft: acknowledging parenthood of your child

Are you not married or registered in civil partnership? In these cases you may be given paternity through recognition of your child. You may recognise a child at the municipality. Please make an appointment first, or call 14015 (0031 260 2222 for foreign calls).

It is possible that other rules apply if you are not a Dutch national or if you are living abroad. During your appointment, you will be given more information and advice concerning your personal situation.

Not in all cases may recognition be arranged during the actual appointment. This depends on the personal situation of the child and the person who applies for recognition. Recognition may for instance take longer if the child was born before 1985, or if the person who applies for recognition is not a Dutch national.
