If, as a man, you are not married or in a registered partnership with the mother of a child, you can still assume legal paternity of the child. This is called acknowledgement. Recognition must be done separately for each child born within your relationship. You must make an appointment for the acknowledgement. When acknowledging the child, the acknowledger and the mother must be present in person.
