Municipality of Amersfoort: acknowledging parenthood of your child
You are expecting a child and you are not married to your partner or you do not have a registered partnership. Or you are expecting a child, are married but are both women. In some cases, your partner must first acknowledge the child in order to become a legal parent. You arrange the recognition at the municipality.
There is no fee involved.
The acknowledgement cannot always be processed immediately. This depends on the personal situation of the child and the person acknowledging the child. For example, acknowledgement takes longer if the child was born before 1985 or if the person having the child officially recognised does not hold Dutch citizenship.
